Ballymoney leases

In the early seventeenth century Randal MacDonnell, later made the first earl of Antrim, was granted an estate of some 333,000 acres in north County Antrim. This included the Ballymoney area. This database lists the leases relating to the town of Ballymoney which have been calendared individually by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland. The earliest date is 1705 and latest 1852. 275 leases are listed which include the names of 424 grantees. The occupation of the grantee, where given, is also listed. The street that the lease refers to, where given, is included. The Earl of Antrim’s estate papers are in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland under reference D/2977.
